This series about a small community in Yorkshire centred
around the Police cast members and related community
all told, was on for a couple of decades in the UK and
popular viewing here too in North America with regular
show runs on the TVO network in Canada and likely too PBS
stateside. The program distributors describe the series
as "Staple saturday night viewing for two decades".
Featured in the cast too is Rowan Atkinson of the "Mr
Bean" slapstick comedy series along with Derek Fowlds
from the "priceless" Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister top
rated intelligent viewing style of comedy right up there
with the best there ever was - Fawlty Towers starring
the popular Mr John Cleese and his then wife Ms. Connie
Booth
